1. Lawyer since 1999

   Called to the bar at the turn of the century, then a career in legal research, writing, and editing across every area of Canadian law, including the summaries and head-notes a generation of lawyers learned the law from. Nearly three decades spent making complicated rules understandable.

2. Plain-language teacher, Wordsmith Communications

   Legal Instructor and Editor (LLB) with Wordsmith Communications, a Canadian plain-language firm. She delivers plain-language workshops for municipalities, companies, and lawyers, and helps organisations rewrite dense documents, like bylaws, into language people can actually understand.

3. Seventeen years inside the City of London

   A casual employee of the City of London for seventeen years, alongside service on not-for-profit boards, board committees in London's hospital system, and casual work for a local school board. She has seen how the City's systems work from the inside, at street level.

4. Small-business owner, in the arts

   Runs “All the Things by Bronagh”, an art business that creates paid work for other artists and young people, and a member of the London Chamber of Commerce. Payroll, clients, and public commissions: the everyday economics most of London's small businesses live with.

5. Community and advocacy

   Decades of volunteering in and around the health system, and advocacy for women, children, and people without a strong voice in the room. Thirty years a Londoner.

6. Four Green Party campaigns

   Ran for the Green Party in two federal and two provincial elections between 2003 and 2018. Whatever you think of the party, that's twenty years of showing up, debating civilly, and staying on good terms with every opponent since.

And yes, the art

Much of it is public work in shared spaces, made through a small business that creates paid work for other artists and young people. That’s the part that matters for City Hall.
